Training for CSOs and authorities on Civil Society Development

On 03 December, 2016 “Uluchay” Social-Economic Innovation Center has organized a training session on “Civil Society Development: Cooperation with stakeholders” with participation of representatives of civil society organizations, local authorities and government representatives. The training session has been organized with the initiative of “Uluchay” Social-Economic Innovation Center within the “Enabling civil society to play a greater role in advancing socio-economic rights of vulnerable populations” project funded by the European Union and supported by the UNDP.

Representatives of civil society organizations, Sheki Regional Office of Ministry of Justice, Sheki Penitentiary Service, as well as local municipalities and government has participated in the training session in order to get detailed and additional information on possible cooperation of stakeholders to solve the recidivism problem and support the reintegration and rehabilitation of prisoners into the society. In the beggining of the training, the Team Leader – Ilyas Safarli has provided detailed information and presentation of the project, activities and expected results, as well as encouraged all stakeholders to actively participate in the project activities.

The training has been provided by the Chairman of partner organization of the project – Center for Economic and Social Development (CESD) – Vugar bayramov. The organized training has covered such topics, like joint cooperation of stakeholders, methodologies and approaches, the role of civil society and civil society development.

During the training session current challanges of civil society sector and reintegration and rehabilitation of prisoners has been discussed, as well as senior representatives of Sheki Penitentiary Service clarified some details on prisoners rehabilitation and reintegration problemsç and provided their recommendations for successful implementation of the project.

Participants of the training has mentioned the innovation used within the project, their readiness to actively participate and support the implementation of the project, as well as the importance of joint cooperation between civil society organizations and governmental structures that will be used within this project. It has been also mentioned that it is necessary to involve governmental structures responsible for solving of socio-economic problems of population and invite them to such discussions as well.
