Uluchay is promoting the self-employment among ex-prisoners

“Uluchay” Social-Economic Innovation Center is helping ex-prisoners in Sheki-Zagatala Region to establish their businesses. Within the “Business development support to ex-prisoners” project funded by the European Union – Council of Europe Joint Project “Further Support to the Penitentiary Reform in Azerbaijan – 2” (JP SPERA – 2), Uluchay is delivering business development training sessions to ex-prisoners and helping them to establish their businesses through the technical start-up support.

The project’s overall objective is to promote self-employment among ex-prisoners as a tool for rehabilitation and reintegration into society. Considering the overall objective, Uluchay is also working with stakeholders and local entrepreneurs and raising awareness of the social stigma on ex-prisoners and the importance of supporting them through employment.

Uluchay is providing the technical start-up support to various businesses, including the bee-keeping, fishing farm, sheep breeding, poultries, car repair shops and others led by men and women ex-prisoners.
