Position paper of social protection of housewives presented to stakeholders
“Uluchay” Social-Economic Innovation Center, in cooperation with “Transparency Azerbaijan” presented a position paper on “Problems of social protection of housewives in Azerbaijan and opportunities for applying international experience” to interested parties. The event has been organized within the “Monitoring and advocating for the human rights of children and vulnerable women in Azerbaijan” project of Uluchay.
On January 27, 2023, the position document was discussed at a round table held in Baku with representatives of more than 30 NGOs, state institutions, and independent experts. During the discussions, the representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population, the Office of the Ombudsman, and the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children Affairs expressed their opinions and announced their plans.
Rena Safaraliyeva, a member of the Board of Directors of “Transparency Azerbaijan” presented a position paper on the topic “Problems of social protection of housewives in Azerbaijan and possibilities of application of international experience.”
At the same time, Ilyas Safarli, the Executive Director of Uluchay, presented the results of the micro-research on “Difficulties faced by divorced women in Sheki” prepared by the NGO coalition from Sheki as a result of technical support from the project. The final version of the position paper will be presented to all interested parties, especially state institutions, taking into account the ideas and recommendations presented within the framework of the round table.
