The Civil Society Project (CSP) is a United States Agency for International Development (USAID) initiative, implemented by Counterpart International in partnership with Urban Institute and International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL).

“Uluchay” Social-Economic Innovation Center was selected as a Support NGO in North-Western Region of Azerbaijan within this Project. During the Project, Uluchay has received number of institutional and capacity building trainings from experts of Counterpart, Urban Institute and ICNL. At the same time these organizations supported the development of internal and external policies and procedures of organization.

Within the other component of the project, Uluchay’s trainers received training of trainers (ToTs) from Counterpart’s experts and then provided the same trainings to local NGOs based in North-Western region of Azerbaijan. Among these trainings there were: financial sustainability, fundraising, communication, proposal writing and others.

The goal of the Civil Society Project is to assist the citizens and government of Azerbaijan to develop a dialogue while working towards the creation of a more representative and better functioning democracy by supporting civil society’s ability to monitor, lobby and engage in the governance of the country. The program is designed to promote civic activism by increasing citizen ability to come together to identify and prioritize concerns, and to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations to effectively advocate their cause at the local and national levels.
