The foreign experience has been delivered to penitentiary service staff

On 28 December 2016, “Uluchay” Social-Economic Innovation Center organized training for Sheki Penitentiary Service staff on “Management of Prisons – Experience of foreign counties.” The training session has been organized with the initiative of “Uluchay” Social-Economic Innovation Center within the “Enabling civil society to play a greater role in advancing socio-economic rights of vulnerable populations” project funded by the European Union supported by the UNDP. The training has been provided by the Chairman of Center for Economic and Social Development – Vugar Bayramov.

The main aim of the training was to provide detailed information on the management of prisons in foreign countries and integrate the best and relevant experiences to the work of Sheki Penitentiary Service. During the training session, the trainer provided information and presentation on prison management from countries like Norway, Germany, the USA, Japan, the Netherlands, and other European countries. The discussion around the experience of each country has been actively discussed among participants, and relevant additional information has been provided based on participants’ questions.

The Deputy Chief of Sheki Penitentiary Service – Mazam Mustafayev, has noted that the training was necessary for all participants in terms of learning new opportunities and experiences and can be considered within the future work of the Sheki Penitentiary Service.

Center for Economic and Social Development (CESD) and the Sheki Regional Office of the Ministry of Justice are partners in the project.
